    • Caption Landmine victims in Kuito, a town where many people were killed and traumatized during the civil war. To date some 70,000 Angolans, 8,000 of them children, have been disabled by exploding mines. For decades colonizers, armies and freedom fighters laid mines randomly on roads and bridges in order to disrupt communications. As a result, there are today probably as many unexploded land mines in Angola as there are inhabitants.
